Bestselling Author of "Behind the Beautiful Forevers" to Kick Off One Book, One Community

Community members can meet Katherine Boo, The New York Times bestselling author of “Behind the Beautiful Forevers,” as she kicks off the 2012 One Book, One Community (OBOC) program with a special visit to the East Lansing-Michigan State University community Aug. 26-27.

 
Katherine Boo is a staff writer at The New Yorker and a former reporter and editor for The Washington Post. Over the years, her reporting from disadvantaged communities has been awarded a Pulitzer Prize, a MacArthur “Genius” grant and a National Magazine Award for Feature Writing.“Behind the Beautiful Forevers” is her first book.
 
Boo will speak to the community in person at 7pm on Sunday, August 26 at the 2012 OBOC Kick-off at the East Lansing High School auditorium, 509 Burcham Drive. Admission is FREE and attendees will be seated on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors will open at 6:15pm.  
 
She will also welcome freshmen at the MSU Academic Welcome at the Breslin Student Events Center on Monday, Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. The public is welcome.

Plus, the author will join us for "afternoon tea" at the East Lansing Public Library on Monday, August 27 at 4pm!
