Library Closed - Furlough Day

East Lansing Public Library

To support the City of East Lansing's commitment to prepare for additional budget cuts in the current fiscal year, the Library will be closed on Thursday, December 31st, 2009.  The Library Board of Trustees is hoping to maximize savings by combining employee furloughs with building closures to take advantage of savings on energy, overhead costs, etc.  The Library will be closed on the following days:

Friday, August 28, 2009

Friday, October 30, 2009

Thursday, December 31, 2009

Friday, February 5, 2010

Friday, April 2, 2010

The selected dates were chosen to minimally impact the services provided to the community. Director Sylvia Marabate says "The East Lansing community is always so supportive of the Library. Adding additional closures to the Library's schedule is never our first choice, but these five furlough days will enable us to provide the same level of service to our community despite weaknesses in the economy."
