Back in early March, the East Lansing Public Library hosted the first ever AG Scam Jam to help equip consumers with the knowledge and tools to fight back against scammers. This was to be one of many consumer-protection focused events, and it has transitioned to a digital format.
Scammers will try everything to get your personal and especially financial information, and they aren't planning on taking a break during the pandemic. In an effort to inform consumers about these scams, AG Nessel today announced a series of videos that will be available periodically on the department's official website and social media channels.
The first video provided tips on how to avoid stimulus payments scams and can be found on the Michigan Attorney General YouTube channel.
The second video focuses on COVID-19 scams, internet surfing, and the consumer protection resources that the department of the AG provides.
You can also visit the Consumer Protection webpage where you'll find news, the scam alert of the day, a resource library of consumer alerts, actual records of scam robocalls, and the consumer complaint form.
We encourage you to stay informed about scams and so you are better equipped to safeguard your personal and financial information.
