In honor of National Picture Book Month, November's author of the month is a favorite among library staff and patrons who seems to surpass his talent with each new release. Known for his illustrations in The Day The Crayons Quit and The Day the Crayons Came Home, Oliver Jeffers' signature childlike art is recognized the world over, and his books, which often offer up a teaching moment for parents, are designed to entertain, instill a love of stories, and ultimately look at the world through a different lens.
This month, Jeffers is releasing what may be his most sentimental title yet. In Here We Are, Jeffers imparts his wisdom to his newborn son, which ranges from the most basic (discussing differences between land, sea, and sky) to insightful ("Use your time well. It will be gone before you know it."), and together with illustrations, he has managed to remind us all that the world truly is a marvel.
Here We Are is available for checkout in the New Children's section at the library.
