The Office for Intellectual Freedom of the American Library Association has condemned the Trump administration's censorship of federal government agencies' social media accounts, including the Environmental Protection Agency, as a "heavy-handed attempt to silence the scientific community," stating:
To restrict citizens’ access to information essential to their health because it fails to agree with the political viewpoint of a particular administration is blatant government censorship. Rather than returning power to the American people, such strategies endanger us.... The people pay for the EPA, and are entitled to hear from it, unfiltered by the biases of the current administration.
This library stands behind this statement and in staunch opposition to any attempt to censor, suppress, or restrict information vital to the maintenance of an informed citizenry.
P.S., Since then, multiple "rogue" Twitter accounts have emerged, including RogueEPA, AltUSNatParkService, RogueNASA, and 100+ others compiled here.
P.P.S., By necessity, the rogue accounts mentioned above are unofficial and unverifiable, and as with any source of information, should be cross-referenced and fact-checked.
