Celebrate National Library Week!

Calling all Library Lovers!

Celebrate With ELPL!

National Library Week is April 6-12, 2025! Libraries are a special place in communities that spark creativity, foster community, inspire lifelong learning, and provide free and equitable access to books and other resources. East Lansing Public Library has had the privilege of serving and being part of the East Lansing community for over 100 years and we will continue to inspire, serve, and evolve as a source of knowledge, connection, and growth!

To kick off the week, join us for a very special author visit! Curtis Chin is the author of the award-winning memoir, Everything I Learned, I Learned at a Chinese Restaurant, a 2024 Michigan Notable Book selection. The book is about growing up Asian-American in Detroit, coming out in a working-class immigrant community, as well as being a first generation college student at the University of Michigan. The first 50 attendees will receive a FREE copy of the book. No registration required!

To book-end celebrations, join us for our annual fundraiser, Book,Bites, and Bids on Friday, April 11 from 5:30-8pm! Join us for an amazing night that includes a silent auction, catering, beer and wine, live music and more! Tickets to attend are $35 per individual or $70 per family. You can buy tickets here! Funds raised will go towards local history initiatives.

Show Your Support!

Threats against libraries are not new, but they have increased over the years. We know the world is overwhelming and individuals can feel powerless, but by finding strength in community, we will get through the challenges that come our way.

Here are a couple things you can do to show us and other libraries support:

  1. Get a library card and check out materials.
  2. Attend library programs.
  3. Shop at Marsha’s Friendshop.
  4. Spread the word and tell other people why you love libraries!

Thank you all for your support, the work we do wouldn’t be possible without it!
