In its current existence, the Great Lakes Folk Festival has been running annually since 2002. A cooperation between the City of East Lansing and the MSU Museum, this weekend festival is a celebration of folk art both locally and nationally.
There will be exhibits of dance and music "showcas[ing] performers who learned their skills within distinct communities and remain rooted in those communities." Along with music and dance, there will be exhibit booths showing traditional art and crafts.
