Over the course of the last year, ELPL has been working hard on a new strategic plan. We collected community feedback through interviews, surveys, and focus groups, and we're using everything we learned to make sure the library accurately reflects our community and meets people's needs. This new plan will be our guiding beacon over the next few years, and inform what we put money towards in our budget, what programs we host, what materials we buy, what partnerships we forge, etc. In addition to identifying our priorities, the new strategic plan is also refreshing our mission, vision, and core values. The new strategic plan will be unveiled to the public later this spring.
Since we're getting a new strategic plan, it makes sense that we update our look to match it! To that end, the library has officially begun a rebranding process! The new rebrand will update our logo, color schemes, and other imagery to make sure it feels fresh, dynamic, and reflects our community's values.
Through this process, we'll be reaching out for community feedback through a survey (available online or via paper) and focus groups This is a chance for us to better understand what people value about the library and East Lansing generally, what imagery you associate with our community, and what aesthetic designs you prefer. You do not need to be an expert. We are looking for your input as someone who cares about our community. We’ll take what we learn from the survey and focus groups and use it as part of our rebranding process.

Community Survey
Please take our quick survey to share what you value aesthetically. Everyone who completes the survey will earn an item from our treasure chest and be entered into a random drawing for a grand prize! The survey closes January 26. Winners of the random drawing will be chosen the week of January 27.

We will be holding three community focus groups in early February. Dates currently to be determined.
Timeline of the Rebranding Process
- In January, we're seeking feedback through a community survey. We'll analyze the data and start to narrow our design to a few different concepts.
- In early February, we'll hold three focus groups to talk about some of the concepts we've come up with so far. Your participation will help us choose a final idea to refine!
- In March, we'll design the new logo and other aspects of our branding.
- The final rebrand will hopefully be revealed along with the strategic plan this spring!
