Enter our 4th Annual Writing Contest!

The 4th annual writing contest is back! Hosted by the MSU Community Writing Center and ELPL, this contest is a great way to show off your creative talents and win cash prizes!

Writers of all ages are invited to submit works of short fiction or creative nonfiction. Entries will be considered in separate categories for youth, teens, and adults by a panel of judges made up of an anonymous group of MSU Writing Center administrators, consultants, and ELPL staff. Winning entries will receive cash prizes and be displayed in the library's newsletter and on the library website.

How to submit:
Submit your work to the Google Form by April 20, 2025. Submissions after that date will not be considered. Authors will be notified of the results of the contest by mid-May.

Submissions must meet the following requirements:

  • Submissions must be 2000 words or less.
  • No more than one submission per author.
  • No submissions that have been previously published in print or online.
  • Submissions must be in a Word or PDF document, in 12-point Times New Roman font, and double-spaced.
  • Label your file as FirstName_LastName_Title
  • Please do not include your name or identifying information in the document itself, as the review process is anonymous.

Visit the Community Writing Center at ELPL on Thursdays from 5-6:20pm to work on your entry with a consultant! Send any questions or concerns that you might have to elcommunitywritingcenter@gmail.com

We look forward to reading your story!
