The Friends of the East Lansing Public Library miss you! To say these last few months have been challenging would be an understatement! Staffed by Friend’s volunteers, Marsha’s Friendshop at the library typically earned $3,000 - $4,000 per month. While our shop fundraising was halted on March 16th, the needs of the library are greater than ever. In fact, the Friends just donated $25,000 to the Library towards the purchase of the outdoor book lockers which are to increase materials accessibility for all patrons. As you know, we exist to help the ELPL with funds for programming and materials so we are looking for new ways to add to our finances.
Therefore, the Friend’s are trying something new and enthusiastically planning an outdoor “Tailgate Sale”, opens a new window for your buying pleasure. The first sale is Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 10 AM - 2 PM in the library parking lot (with rain date of Sat. Sep. 26 same place and time - check our Social Media sites for updates). “Tailgate Sale” is just that, used books will be in the trunks/backends of our cars and on tables; sorted by general genres, including fiction, non-fiction, children’s books and more. Bargain prices! We will be providing bags and you can fill one for $10 or pay your total with exact cash/check/card. In addition to books we will be selling Friends' logo bags for $3 and homemade Friends' logo masks for $10. All proceeds, as always, add to our ability to help the library.
