The East Lansing Public Library occupies the ancestral, traditional and contemporary lands of the Anishinaabeg Three Fires Confederacy of Ojibwe, Odawa and Potawatomi peoples land ceded in the 1819 Treaty of Saginaw.
1. Call to Order 4:31 p.m.
2. Roll Call
Trustees present were: Amy Zaagman, Pamela Smith, Ameenah Asante and Diane Goddeeris. Trustee Polly Synk was absent. Also, in attendance were Friends President Maureen McCabe-Power, City Council Member Liaison George Brookover, Director Kristin Shelley, and Executive Assistant to the Director Shori Teeple. There were two attendees from the public.

4. Communications
4.1 Resolution passed by the East Lansing City Council recognizing October as Michigan Library Appreciation month.

5.1 Public Comment - limited to two minutes per person

6.1 City Council Liaison Report:
Brookover reported:
- Board members encouraged to read synopses from City Council meetings.
6.2 Friends of the East Lansing Public Library Report
McCabe-Power Reported:
- New bank accounts opened.
- Plan to have credit card sales at library by end of October.
- Plan to hold a purses/bags sale this winter.
7. Old Business
7.1 Woodlands Cooperative Board -- Action
- Board members invited to appoint a member to Woodlands board.
- Following discussion, interest expressed and will follow up with more details for meeting participation.
7.2 Intellectual Freedom -- Discussion
- New challenges recently in Dearborn.
- You Tube link to Byron Center Township meeting where the Kent District Library Director presented.
7.3 Holiday closures -- Update
- Two 4-day weekend closures for December holidays noted.
8. New Business
8.1 Social Media Policy -- Action
- Motion to approve updated Social Media Policy with recommendation to amend the language regarding appeals.
