1) Call to Order 4:34 pm

2) Roll Call

Trustees present were: Lance Wilkinson (location: East Lansing, Michigan in Ingham County), Diane Goddeeris (location: Grand Haven, Michigan in Ottawa County), Polly Synk (location: East Lansing, Michigan in Ingham County), Paul Cervenak (location: Grand Rapids, Michigan in Kent County), and Amy Zaagman (location: East Lansing, Michigan in Ingham County). Also, in attendance were City Council Liaison Jessy Gregg, Friends President Maureen McCabe-Power, Director Kristin Shelley, Assistant Director/Head of Customer Experiences Brice Bush, Head of Technology Services Lauren Douglass, Circulation Supervisor Kevin Hawley, and Executive Assistant to the Director Shori Teeple.

A) Approval of May 19, 2021 Meeting Minutes
Cervenak moved.
Synk seconded.

B) Approval of Current Meeting Agenda
Goddeeris moved.
Cervenak seconded.
All in favor.

4) Communications
A) Audience/Public Comment

  • None

5) Reports
A) City Council Liaison Report
Gregg reported:

  • Updates on the Police Oversight Study Commission
  • Open air dining plaza in downtown areas
  • Graduate Hotel is now open
  • City has experienced several staffing changes recently with retirements and interim directors appointed

B) Friends of the East Lansing Public Library Report
McCabe-Power reported:

  • Sidewalk sale planned for June 26 from 1-4pm

6) Old Business
A) Reopening - Discussion

  • Overview provided on the status of area libraries and their reopening plans
  • Discussion took place on relaxing several ELPL pandemic policies

B) Motion on the library to relax its pandemic policies in effect for Pandemic Patron Code of Conduct effective June 28 and does the same with regard to building capacity, library hours and computer usage effective July 6.

A) Resolution 20-21 to approve the nomination of Officers for FY2022

  • Trustee Zaagman was reappointed by City Council, on June 8, to a second five-year term on the East Lansing Public Library Board of Trustees
