You can find the Seed Library collection near the Service Desk, beginning March 10, 2025.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check out seeds? Expand

Visitors to the library may check out five packets of seeds per season. A limit of five packets has been set to make sure that as many community members as possible have access to the collection.

What seeds are available? Expand

A variety of heirloom vegetable, herb and flower seeds are available.  We have over 100 types of seeds in varying quantities! Please remember that all 100 types will not be available during every visit.  We want to make sure the Seed Library is available as long as possible throughout the season so seeds will be added each week.

Why does ELPL have a seed library? Expand

The purpose of the ELPL Seed Library is to inspire community members to grow their own food, create opportunities for gardeners to grow more varieties of plants in their garden, and to reconnect our community with the traditions of planting and harvesting.

Do you accept donations of seeds? Expand

Yes! This season, we are accepting donations to help sustain the seed library. We are most in need of flower and herb seeds. Seeds may be donated at the front circulation desk or at the seed library display near the science fiction catalog computer.

Thank You to Our Donors

All of the Seed Library seeds were donated to ELPL from many generous vendor partners, seed organizations, local growers and farmers.  We thank them for their generosity.
